My student office helper walked in this morning wearing a scarf made by this artist. Before I knew that the scarf probably cost around $600, I couldn't stop touching it and examining how it was made.
Shibori! I had never heard of this technique. I must be behind the times because it seems lots of folks are talking about.
I can't wait to make a scarf using this tutorial. So exciting!!!
I wish I could leave right now and start!

Ooo---this looks like fun. Are we worried about marbles in the washing machine clanging around?
I have a question though. What is this overdying process? Does one start with a neutral color and then dye it as mentioned or is it a free-for-all? I would imagine that some yarns would be too dark that food coloring would not show up. Also, does food coloring come off/fade?
